RAGMOP Theatre is a collaboration between Canadian clown and movement artist Nayana Fielkov, and U.S.A. circus artist Matthew “Poki” McCorkle. Using the mediums of clown, magic, mime, mask, puppetry, illusions, shadow projections, dance, live song, and circus arts, RAGMOP creates and performs original, compelling, thought provoking, surrealist physical comedy. Their premier show Falling Awake was created through Artists in Residency programs at Tanzzentrale (Nürnberg, Germany 2015) and the Lookout Arts Quarry (Bellingham, WA, USA). In 2016 they won the canadian Fringe festival touring lottery and thus toured to 7 Fringe festivals receiving the acclaim of: Best of Fest, Artist Pick, and Holdovers (Edmonton Fringe); Best Ensemble, Critics' Pick (Toronto Fringe); Joanna Maratta Award, and Mollie Bradley Award (Vancouver Fringe) and nominated for many more. They sold out the entire run in Edmonton and returned the following year to play the festival’s largest venue to sold out houses again. Following their Fringe success, they have been presented at theatres and festivals throughout B.C. including Capitol Theatre in Nelson, ArtSpring on Salt Spring Island, Fringe Presents Vancouver, and The Living Things Festival in Kelowna.
Nayana Fielkov is a performing and visual artist. Beyond her work with RAGMOP, she is co-creator and performer in award winning show “Habitats” (supported by Canada Council and BC Arts Council), in the roving troupe The Ladies in White, in the clown troupes Poupon Parade, and The Assembly, in the adorable theatrical musical ensemble The Myrtle Family Band, and was assistant director in the Jesse award nominated “Hard Times Hit Parade”. She is an active and founding member of the Dusty Flowerpot Cabaret. She has taught contact improvisation and clown internationally, and facilitated youth in theatre creation for many events including The International children's festival.
Matthew "Poki" McCorkle is mime and object manipulator specializing in physical illusions. His work has traveled to Dubai (Cirque Éloize 2014, 2015), Israel, Taiwan, and Germany (PALAZZO Dinner Theater 2015-2018). He co-conceived the award winning physical theatre duo Button Wagon (2010-2013) and The Incredible Incredible (2015-2017). He is a proud member of Clowns Without Borders including tours to The Philippines in the wake of Super Typhoon Hiayan (2013) and to Syrian Refugee centers in Nürnberg Germany (2016). Matthew is based at the Lookout Arts Quarry in Bellingham WA, USA.
