Dance LAB will take place 10 Saturdays at the Art Klub.
10:30am - 11:50am: Dance LAB - Technique
Focus on alignment, strength training and the key concepts for efficient, clear, and injury free dance movement. Kind of like a regular FUN DANCE CLASS that will at times get nerdy and really break things down.
12:00pm - 1:30pm: DANCE LAB - Open
Focus on experimentation and expansive dance practices that include improvisation, partner and group activities, tuning into self, others, and environment. Tools from somatics, gaga, tuning scores, forsythe improvisation, raves, martial arts and whatever your imagination can conjure.

Shannon Stewart’s contemporary practice includes somatic tuning, guided improvisation, technical, endurance and strengthening exercises that allow dancers to increase range of motion, physical capacity and the potential for alternative virtuosities. Shannon works equally with physical and mental rigor, attention to detail, play and experimentation, and ends class with phrase work or group improvisations. Her training encompasses classical forms, somatic practices, martial arts and breakdancing. She is a certified Gyrokinesis® and Gyrotonic® instructor, as a teaching artist with the Mark Morris D4PD program for people with Parkinson’s Disease, and has trained abroad in Forsythe improvisation, gaga, and CounterTechnique. Shannon has an MFA in Interdisciplinary Dance Performance.
