Thanks to the support from Threadhead Cultural Foundation, Preservation Hall Foundation, the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival, the New Orleans Jazz Museum and Griffin Family Foundation, we are able to offer this unique music curriculum. We will be connecting the music with the culture that birthed it. Students will explore where the music came from and how it has evolved over time, paralleled with the cultural evolution of our fine city New Orleans.
Students will have an opportunity to explore all of the instruments; however, please let us know which instrument your student is most interested in playing. Some instruments will be provided on site, but it is best if your musician has their own. Please let us know if you need information on purchasing or renting an instrument while at the Art Klub, or if they already have their own.
We strive to instill a love for playing and listening to music with community centered programming. At the end of the 8 week session, the Art Klub Kids Brass Band will perform a concert!
Witness the magic of New Orleans brass band traditions and Louisiana music and cultural heritage played by the promising talent of the St. Roch neighborhood and surrounding 504 area youth musicians. Let us celebrate big brass music and New Orleans rising talent!

About the Instructor: Clifford McPeek
Clifford has many interests in art and music. Writing music and directing bands was his first interest in the 1980's, providing travel, exposure and experience. Opening for the Red Hot Chili Peppers in 1985 and performing with the Dead Kennedy's, in addition to performing for University bands for scholarships began an interest in different parts of society. Later in the 1990's he worked for public schools and art organizations in Chattanooga, TN and Birmingham, AL, including The Shaking Ray Levi Society, Barking Legs Theater and Birmingham Art Association. Working for cruise lines as an instrumentalist from 1999-2004, he began writing shows for bigger stages. After 2005, he became interested in Marching Bands and music lessons in New Orleans and continues to support and participate in many arts activities.
