CLOSING RECEPTION! Clifford McPeek, Art Klub resident artist, and "Possibly The World's Heaviest Metal Guitars". His cast iron guitars will hang alongside a range of works by other local metal sculptors including Sadie Sheldon, Arlyn Sanchez, and AZ. Local musicians will perform with the cast iron guitars (one 6 string and one is a 4 string bass guitar).

Keeping their Story Alive // The Upstairs Lounge Tragedy

Before St. Claude Second Saturday Art Stroll, come meet Artist-in-Residence, Peter Mallen. During his residency, Mallen has created a body of work commemorating the lives lost during the Upstairs Lounge Fire in 1973. He is using a print transfer process to create these works on paper, pulling inspiration from Robert Rauschenberg's Earth Day Posters. Come view this poignant body of work that pays homage to the tragedy that affected the New Orleans LGBTQ community.

Womb Room

Womb Room is a safe space for us all to return to after the chaos of Fat Tuesday. It will feature the work of visual artists Emily Stein, Margaret Parsons, and Art Klub artist-in-residence Rosalie Grey Lamb Smith. There will be a live Re/visions showcase in correlation with our opening night. Familiar Cast - Opening Reception

The queer body takes center stage in the most common of places. Presenting themselves as visibly queer or not, Leitner looks into how his figures assert themselves within different spaces. From scenes of a soldier at boot camp to a customer ordering at a bakery, these continue to be battle grounds for people within the LGBTQ community. Showing these spaces and the queer body as they are shouldn’t be intriguing or political, but they continue to be.
